Modeling and Simulation

HFE methodology is characterized by its reliance on modeling and simulation. In identifying HFE issues and concerns early in the system development process, models of task sequences for alternative design approaches are developed and analyzed. Alternative roles of the human vs automation in the system are assessed through simulation. Requirements are identified and analyzed through task analysis which constitutes a model of task performance. Finally, system, subsystem and component and human0machine interface design concepts are developed and evaluated through human-in-the-loop simulation.
